Beauharnois generating station: A fantastic free outing for the whole family!

This summer, enjoy a free tour of the hydropower generating station located in the town of Beauharnois, near Melocheville, in Montérégie. This fascinating facility has existed since 1932.

Among the world’s largest hydropower generating stations

A designated national historic site, Beauharnois is Hydro-Québec’s most powerful run-of-river plant and one of the biggest in the world. Every second, enough water flows through Beauharnois generating station to fill three Olympic-sized pools. With its 36 generating units spread out over nearly a kilometre, it plays a key role in Hydro-Québec’s grid. Come take a closer look!

Duration: 90 minutes

Visitors aged 18 and over must present photo identification before they can tour the facility. For safety reasons, tours are not recommended for children younger than two.
